Mission Statement:
The Smith County Drug and Alcohol Council (SCDAC) is a county-wide coalition with a mission to plan, organize and implement prevention programs to reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, while promoting healthy attitudes and behaviors among youth. The Council has over 12 years of experience in prevention planning and programming in Smith County.
Activities:
The Council sponsors town hall meetings, retailer education, school-based educational programming (like Project Alert & Project Charlie), youth alternative activities (SADD chapter events) and social marketing campaigns. Funding for these programs are made available through local liquor tax dollars. Council meetings are held once a month on the third Monday and anyone interested in joining is encouraged to participate.
